Scandi girls have long been a major source of style inspiration, from the minimalist aesthetic they’re best known for to the eclectic dressing we’ve seen dominating the streets of Copenhagen Fashion Week in recent seasons.
But while the likes of Ganni, Cecilie Bahnsen and Totême have reached a global audience in recent years, which brands do the Scandi fashion set actually wear? Below we take a look at five Nordic brands spotted on the pavements during Copenhagen Fashion Week.
Cecilie Bahnsen
Since first emerging on the scene in 2015, Cecilie Bahnsen’s voluminous, puff-sleeved dresses have become instantly recognisable. Scandi girls don’t save the brand’s feminine designs for best, though, even wearing them while riding their bikes to work – whether paired with jeans underneath or trainers.
Ganni
You’d be hard-pressed not to see someone wearing Ganni within five minutes of arriving in Copenhagen, such is the ubiquity of the cult brand’s floral dresses and denim separates. Expect Ganni’s latest collaboration with New Balance to be popular among the Scandi set in the coming months, too.
A Roege Hove
Despite only launching in 2019, A Roege Hove’s signature ribbed knitwear is already popular with the Scandi set. The designer’s tie-up cardigan is a particular favourite, worn layered over a T-shirt during the day and on its own at night.
Saks Potts
brand’s relaxed shirting, as seen on Dua Lipa this summer, is also proving to be a hit.
By Malene Birger
Danish brand By Malene Birger leans towards the Scandi minimalism most associated with the region (think grey coats and beige knitwear), but its designs are also infused with a bohemian edge that can result in less expected pieces – such as the statement cow-print coat seen during Copenhagen Fashion Week.
Marimekko
Although Finland is not technically part of Scandinavia, Marimekko – which hosted a runway show as part of Copenhagen Fashion Week this season – remains popular in the region, thanks to its instantly-recognisable bold floral prints and graphic designs.
