The Heliot Emil fashion house presented an unusual show when showing off its Autumn Winter 2023-2024 collection at Paris Fashion Week.
A model was seen walking the runway casually wearing a black suit jacket covered in flames. The model wore a jacket with a hoodie and baggy pants with zipper details, teamed with clunky shoes. The layered look was completed with a small square bag, backpack, baseball cap and another hoodie that tied around the model’s waist.
From among the crowd, waiting staff with fire extinguishers could be seen. A number of celebrities who attended the Heliot Emil show, such as Avril Lavigne and Tyga, also looked excited about taking out their cellphones.
The video clip of the model being burned by the fire has gone viral on social media. Some netizens said the action of the model being set on fire reminded them of Katniss Everdeen’s character in the “Hunger Games” films and Kanye West who set himself on fire on Donda’s stage.
Titled ‘CONNECTED FORMS’, the collection is inspired by the sculptural works of Henry Moore, the most celebrated sculptor of the 20th century. The creative director and founder of Heliot Emil, Julius Juul created a collection that questions traditional forms and patterns.
Through this presentation, Julius Juul also aims to emphasize the heat-resistant and water-resistant materials in his own collection. Therefore, in his presentation this time, he showed a model that was burned by fire.
The CONNECTED FORMS collection features unique and avant-garde designs that capture the essence of Moore’s art. Many of Moore’s sculptures are displayed outdoors in public spaces, giving the artwork a natural patina and a unique texture that is influenced by the work’s environment.
Other sculptural influences are shown in curved zippers, morphed silhouettes, asymmetrical details, and exaggerated shapes. Organic pattern lines create volume and whimsical shape in sculptural-looking jackets, pants, and dresses.
“The asymmetrical lines continue down to the details of the pocket flaps and seams. Each piece in the collection is interpreted in its own way and captures the essence of Moore’s sculpture,” said Heliot Emil.
Heliot Emil was founded in 2016 by brothers Julius and Victor Juul, who named the brand after their great-grandfathers. This ready-to-wear brand focuses on monochromatic unisex clothing inspired by its Scandinavian roots.
