Renowned game developer Nordcurrent’s app, Pocket Styler, has joined hands with German fashion label Marc Cain during the latter’s 50th anniversary year, marking a collaboration that merges the domains of gaming and fashion. The two-year gaming app invites players to personalise their avatars, from selecting their clothing style to even the shape of their noses. Avatars can be styled using pieces from the exclusive Marc Cain anniversary collection. These virtual clothing pieces are available for purchase in real life on Marc Cain’s official website and in physical stores.
Victoria Trofimova, co-founder, and CEO of Nordcurrent, emphasised that the mission of Pocket Styler is to offer a platform for players to engage with high fashion, develop their own style, hone decision-making skills, and make new friends. The integration of real fashion brands into Pocket Styler is a natural evolution as the game advances, supported eagerly by millions of players.
The spotlight in this collaboration is on leopard print and the label’s prowess in knitting. The collection encompasses a total of 50 items, including various accessories. Gaming apps like Pocket Styler and Drest are witnessing a surge in popularity among fashion enthusiasts. For instance, Drest recently secured an additional £ 15 million in funding to enhance its tech, with version 2.0 slated for release next year.
Since its initial launch in May 2021, Pocket Styler has amassed 19 million downloads, with players dedicating up to 20,000 hours daily to gaming. Reports indicate that global mobile gaming revenues exceeded US US $ 92 billion last year, while the overall gaming market is valued at over US $ 184 billion and is projected to reach US $ 221 billion by 2025. Keeping these figures in mind, Pocket Styler has also collaborated with David Koma for his SS ’23 resort collection and is actively in discussions with a range of international fashion brands to partake in this gaming revolution.
